This study evaluated the effect of smoking on ovarian cancer development risk. Researchers conducted a meticulous meta-analysis on data extracted from 10 studies.
The team of investigators discovered that current smokers had a two-fold increase in the risk of developing mucinous ovarian cancer compared to never smokers. In contrast, smoking was found to have no effect on serous and endometroid ovarian carcinoma risk. The findings of this study reveal that smoking may be a major contributing factor to the development of ovarian cancer in women.
