Cruciferous vegetables and risk of colorectal neoplasms: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

High intake of cruciferous vegetables, especially broccoli, may cut down the risk of developing colorectal neoplasms and cancer.

This study evaluated the relationship between regular dietary ingestion of cruciferous vegetables and the likelihood of developing colorectal neoplasms and cancer by meta-analysis. 33 studies were included in this meta-analysis. Researchers observed a lower risk of colorectal neoplasms and carcinomas among subjects with the highest consumption rate of of cruciferous vegetables, particularly broccoli, than in those who consumed the least amounts of this type of vegetable. The findings of this meta-analysis reveal that reduced risk of colorectal neoplasms and carcinomas is associated with regular intake of cruciferous vegetables.
