Association of Habitual Preoperative Dietary Fiber Intake With Complications After Colorectal Cancer Surgery
Regular ingestion of fiber-containing foods may slash the likelihood of an individual experiencing complication from colorectal cancer surgery.
This study ascertained whether an association exists between high dietary intake of fiber and the development of complications after colorectal cancer surgery. Researchers tracked the eating habits and the presence of complications arising from surgery in a study population comprising of 1,399 colorectal cancer patients.
Researchers recorded low rate of complications among patients on high fiber diet who underwent surgery for colorectal cancer. This study emphasized the important role generous consumption of fiber-rich foods plays in reducing the incidence of complications from colorectal cancer surgery.
