Low intake of fruits and vegetables may result in a spike in cancer rates.

This study determined the role of fruits and vegetables in the prevention of cancer. Researchers studied dietary and health data drawn out from the Canadian Community Health Survey and the city of Alberta Cancer Registry in Canada.

Researchers found a strong correlation between inadequate intake of fruits and vegetables and rising incidence of cancer. According to this study, low consumption of fruits and vegetables accounted for almost 2% of all cases of cancer in Alberta. This study shows that high dietary ingestion of fruits and vegetables may favor the prevention of cancer.
