High meat diets may put women at greater risk of breast cancer.

This study examined the role habitual intake of red and processed meats play in the development of breast cancer in pre-menopausal and post-menopausal women. A team of British researchers monitored the meat intake of 35,372 women between the ages of 35 and 69 years and estimated the breast cancer hazard ratios of all the participants in this study.

The research team discovered that increased consumption of processed and unprocessed red meat elevated the risk of developing breast cancer in both pre-menopausal and post-menopausal women. The findings of this study reveal that frequent consumption of meat may be a contributing factor to the development of breast cancer.
