Low incidence of breast cancer is associated with regions where high amounts of soy foods are consumed.

This study examined the consumption of soy foods in relation to the prevalence of breast cancer in different parts of the world. Researchers assessed data drawn from 1 cohort and 7 case-control studies.

Researchers observed that countries with the greatest soy consumption rates, such as Asian nations, had low rates of breast cancer compared to Western nations where little amounts of soy foods are consumed. The findings of this epidemiology study suggest that soy foods may have a protective effect against breast cancer.
