Associated between Dietary Antioxidant Index (DAI) and Odds of Breast Cancer and Correlation between DAI with Pathobiological Markers: Hospital-Based Incidence Case-Control Study
Increasing the level of consumption of antioxidant-containing foods may help thwart the development of breast cancer in women.
This study evaluated the hypothesis that high dietary exposure to antioxidants from food sources can help guard against the occurrence of breast cancer (BrCa) in women. Researchers scrutinized food frequency questionnaires obtained from 145 women with breast cancer and 148 women free from this malignancy.
Researchers identified a decreasing trend in the diagnosis rates of breast cancer among women with elevated consumption of foods rich in antioxidants. "Our study supports the hypothesis that dietary antioxidants intake is associated with a reduced odds of BrCa," the study authors concluded.
