Consumption of Fruits, Vegetables and Bladder Cancer Risk: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Prospective Cohort Studies

Eating generous portions of fruits and vegetables, such as citrus fruits and cruciferous vegetables, consistently may shield men and women from suffering from bladder cancer.

This meta-analysis summarized data and evidence extracted from a pool of 15 studies that examined the incidence of bladder cancer in accordance with the frequency of consumption of fruits and vegetables. Data from over 2 million men and women were analyzed for this study.

Data analysis revealed a low rate of bladder cancer diagnoses among participants who imbibed the habit of eating high amounts of fruits and vegetables, such as cruciferous vegetables and citrus fruits. This study found out that regular intake of fruits and vegetables can improve an individual's chances of evading a diagnosis of bladder cancer.
