Dairy Intake and Acne Vulgaris: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of 78,529 Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults.
Adolescents and young adults who are lovers of dairy products may have a high tendency to develop acne vulgaris.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the consumption of dairy products and the odds of having acne vulgaris using a meta-analytic approach. Data from 14 studies involving more than 70,000 individuals between the ages of 7-30 years were included in this study.
Researchers found a high incidence of acne among regular consumers of dairy products. This research work adds to the growing body of studies implicating dairy foods as a dietary factor that can trigger the onset of acne vulgaris in children, adolescents and young adults.
