Plant-Based Meals Delivered to Your Front Door!

Plant-Based Meals Delivered to Your Front Door!

Did you know that there are numerous businesses that will purchase plant-based food for you, prepare it, and deliver it right to your front door? Dustin Rudolph PharmD, also known as The Plant-Based Pharmacist, has compiled a list of services that provide either fully cooked ready-to-eat meals, frozen meals, or fresh ingredients that allows you to prepare the meal yourself using their easy-to-follow instructions. In his article, Plant-Based Meals Delivered To Your Doorstep, Rudolph highlights 19 different businesses with a brief description of what service they provide and the area that they deliver to. Many are able to ship their meals nationwide while others are limited to the proximity of their business.

Eating healthy has never been easier! These meal delivery services are especially helpful for getting through those hard times in life, such as:

  • Families with hectic schedules that haven't had an opportunity to shop for food
  • Those that don't like to cook or have minimal cooking skills
  • Those that are traveling, or packing and moving out of or into a new home
  • Those recovering from surgery, are struggling with an illness, or have experienced a death in the family or just brought home a newborn baby

It's important to mention that not all of the meals provided by these services are low in salt/sugar and some may use oil or other rich ingredients that I encourage my patients to avoid. In this situation, you could specify which ingredients you'd like to omit when you place your order, or if your meal package requires preparation, you could simply omit the ingredients yourself. Many services like Lighter will work with their customers to provide specialized meal plans to suit any food preference or restrictions such as food allergies, gluten sensitivities or skill level. Presently, Lighter delivers to almost every zip code in the following cities (along with many neighboring towns): Atlanta, Austin, Boulder, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Philadelphia, Portland, San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Monica, Seattle, Stamford (CT),  and Washington, D.C.

You may also want to take advantage of the many businesses that deliver fresh (mainly organic) produce to your front door. 10 Fresh and Organic Food Delivery Services Worth Checking Out highlights 10 different businesses that delivers produce and other pantry staples.

I personally don't have any experience using these services, so I'm not able to make any recommendations. If you have placed an order with any of these businesses and had a pleasant experience, please leave a comment in the section below. This will be a tremendous help for those in need of this service!
