Is a Starch-Smart® diet safe for children to follow?

A Starch-Smart® diet is an excellent diet for children of all ages and can be started as soon as they are introduced to solid foods. Consuming a Starch-Smart diet not only provides superior nutrition, it also greatly impacts their future health. A well planned, plant-centered diet consisting of whole, unprocessed foods such as beans, intact grains, fruits, vegetables, starchy vegetables, organic soy, legumes, nuts and seeds builds both strong bones and immune system, and promotes normal growth and optimal brain function. Scientists have recently identified over 12,000 phytonutrients in plant foods which work together to deactivate free radicals, promote the DNA repair process, and detoxify carcinogens. A diet consisting of whole foods and dark green leafy vegetables, encourages longevity, prevents disease and oxidative damage, slows the aging process, and maintains a healthy weight. It also establishes lifelong healthy eating habits which can prevent many chronic diseases in their adulthood, such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, and autoimmune conditions.
