I have been closely looking over the starchsmart system and have been making changes to my diet, like removing all oils, bread and cutting down on avocado and nuts. I am not sure which level I should be following. I currently have hbp that is being controlled by low dose meds. Today my BP was 104/77 with the meds. I like Dr. Carney’s concept, to eat a heavier breakfast and go lighter for dinner. What are your thoughts on stoneground sprouted corn tortilla, would that be ok to eat? How about homemade quinoa bread made with blended quinoa and water, than flattened and baked?
I also cut out wine for the time being.
Thank you so much for this amazing site.

    • Thanks for the great testimony. I read it to Dr. Carney this morning and she was pleased to hear it. We are not opposed to stone ground sprouted cornThanks for the great testimony. I read it to Dr. Carney this morning and she was pleased to hear it. We are not opposed to stone ground sprouted corn tortillas. I am assuming you are referring to Foods For Life sprouted corn tortillas? We like them. And, the flat bread you described with cooked ground quinoa is something that Dr. Carney also prepares for us at times. Although for the most part we even eat simpler than that. We are glad you like our site.   More ...

I just recommended this site to someone on a plant based facebook page. I have a hard copy of the starch smart system which I refer to often. My cardiologist who promotes plant based foods told me to stay away from nuts and seeds and overt fats like tofu, olives and avocado. I did do that for about 3 months and my blood pressure dropped. I missed these foods a lot though and started adding them back into my diet but not as much as before and sure enough my blood pressure went back up. I had an Ecco stress test and my heart is healthy and no visible signs of plague. Wall thickness and size of my heart is normal. Just my BP was high even during the test. I am thankful to God that my tests came back normal. I don’t want to get to stressed out about putting some of these foods back in my life but I know I shouldn’t if I want normal results next time I take the test. What can I do with will power. MY 23 and me DNA testing actually indicated I have a sensitivity to saturated fat and I can gain weight if I consume saturated fat If its more than 22grams of saturated fat a day. This might be why these fatty foods affect blood pressure for me....do you think there is a correlation?   More ...
