    • Hi Scarney, My wife and I currently live in New Zealand. We were married 30 years ago in Auckland and moved to the Big Island of Hawaii for 15 yearsHi Scarney, My wife and I currently live in New Zealand. We were married 30 years ago in Auckland and moved to the Big Island of Hawaii for 15 years and then moved just North of Wellington and have lived here for the past 15 years. We have 10 children, 3 married and 6 still living at home. We have a small steel fab shop with about 8 employees where we fabricate and install structural steel in houses and buildings.
My diet has been oil free and plant based for over 18 months and I love this way of cooking and eating. It isn't easy when you have been raised on the SAD and your kids want meat in their meals most of the time along with the cheese and all the other bad dairy choices. My reason is simple, at age 57 I had a triple bypass. After the surgery I was given the same food that had probably help cause my heart attack and then told to take medication for the rest of my life. I took the pills for about a month and didn't like the side effects so I stopped the medication and started eating better, or so I thought. We had lots of salmon and bone broth and food cooked in olive oil and we were told how healthy that was. After awhile I didn't feel so healthy and in the past I had tried to be a vegetarian and so I started looking at some of the information on the internet and decided to go plant based January 2017. I have always been in pretty good shape and in fact my heart attack happened while working out in the gym. I'm a little over 5'10" and weight about 145 lbs.
I have recently had my blood work done and my cholesterol and testosterone were on the high side. If I knew how to attach my results I could show you the difference in the last 2 reports but I have had no animal products and I was hoping it would be extra low, not higher than normal and i'm sure my doctor is going to tell me to take the pills to get it down.
      Thanks, Jim

I think you might want to jump into our forum and ask about possible things that could be raising your cholesterol or possible reasons why your cholesterol might be high despite being on a whole-food plant-based diet.I know that Dr. Carney has a lot to say about that. I will then try to find some her resources and paste them there as a reply that could help you and others who find the page by doing searches. I will be creating some interesting groups here for people to join soon so keep your eyes open for that as well.
