More than not, as anyone discovers my eating habits, their response is something like, "Oh, I could never eat like that." I tell them that it is far easier than they think and that their taste will change, but that never seems to convince anyone.

Indeed, a Low-Fat Whole Foods Plant Based diet is a radical lifestyle change from the Standard American diet. That is why diets like Paleo, South Beach and Atkins are so popular; because it maintains all the favorite foods that are considered "staple". Living without them is just unimaginable.

When I first started living on a Low-Fat Whole Foods Plant Based diet, it was an effort to survive Type-1 diabetes, but to my surprise, the results were far greater than just surviving. Adding to that surprise was my change of taste. I had always attributed this to familiarity; that one likes foods that are familiar. This made sense to me, even though the magnitude of love for plant based foods grew far beyond the love I ever had for animal based foods.

Another drive that I discovered, and try to convey, is that if one maintains a Low-Fat Whole Foods Plant Base lifestyle long enough, one will cross a health threshold that is so powerful that you won't give it up for anything. I have actually written a blog on that subject.

But now, I have discovered that there is an even more powerful resistance to diet change than either familiarity or health. I learned this from Dr. Carney's new DVD titled, "Why We Do What We Do?". This video clears up so many questions - questions I didn't even know I had! I can't recommend it highly enough!

Caution: Spoiler below...

So what is more powerful than familiarity or even health? ... Addiction!! So many people suffer life degrading conditions that are inflicted by powerful addictions they don't even know they have. They think their conditions are just a matter of bad luck and / or age. You gotta watch this and all of Dr. Carney's DVD's. You will discover that life compromising conditions are indeed, not just bad luck or age.
