High dietary intake of legumes may significantly cut down the risk of developing prostate cancer.

This study examined the relationship between the consumption of legumes and the likelihood of developing prostate cancer. Researchers collated and analyzed data on the legume consumption rate and prostate cancer odds ratio of 291,268 subjects recruited from eight cohort studies.

They observed a significant reduction in prostate cancer risk among frequent consumers of legumes. The consumption of an additional 20 grams of legumes per day was found to decrease the risk of developing prostate cancer by 3.7%. The findings of this review show that prostate cancer is less likely to occur in men who are regular consumers of legumes.
