Low type 2 diabetes risk is associated with increased consumption of fruits and vegetables, particularly blueberries, cruciferous vegetables, yellow vegetables, green leafy vegetables, and their fiber.

This study explored the relationship between high dietary ingestion of fruits, vegetables, fruit fiber, and vegetable fiber and the likelihood of developing type 2 diabetes. Researchers reviewed 21 scientific articles that examined the effect of regular intake of fruits, vegetables, and fiber from these food sources on type 2 diabetes risk.

The team of investigators found out that high intake of fruits and vegetables, especially blueberries, cruciferous vegetables, yellow vegetables, green leafy vegetables, and their fiber reduced the odds of developing type 2 diabetes. The findings of this meta-analysis reveal that regular ingestion of generous portions of fruits and vegetables may help protect individuals from developing type 2 diabetes.
