Generous intake of plant-based foods, such as beans, fruits, and vegetables, may help reduce total and cardiovascular mortality.

This study investigated the relationship between high dietary ingestion of plant-based foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and beans and mortality risk among adult Japanese men and women. Researchers tracked dietary and mortality records of 25 206 men and 34 279 women aged 40-79 years for a duration of 13 years. The research team observed that subjects on diets loaded with fruits, vegetables, and beans exhibited low risk of dying from cardiovascular diseases and other causes. The findings of this research work reveal that consistent consumption of plant-based foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and beans may contribute positively to the prevention of deaths from cardiovascular disorders and other causes.
