A significant reduction in hypertension risk is associated with increased consumption of fruits and vegetables.

This study was carried out to determine the correlation between habitual intake of fruits and vegetables and the odds of developing hypertension using a meta-analytic approach. Nutritional and clinical data extracted from 25 studies that examined 334,468 subjects were analyzed for this study.

Researchers observed that individuals who consistently consumed generous portions of fruits and vegetables had slim chances of suffering from hypertension. The results of this study suggest that frequent consumption of fruits and vegetables may help to diminish an individual's risk of developing hypertension.
