Generous intake of Mediterranean diets may decrease women’s susceptibility to breast cancer.

Mediterranean diets are rich in fibers, polyphenols, omega-3 fatty acids, and low glycemic index carbohydrates. This study was conducted to assess the effect of Mediterranean diets and dietary exposure to statins on breast cancer risk. Researchers examined the nutritional and clinical data of subjects. They discovered that high intake of Mediterranean diets decreased breast cancer odds. On the other hand, a greater breast cancer risk was observed in subjects with high levels of statins. The findings of this study support the theory that statins may promote the development of cancerous cells in the breast.
