Dietary fiber intake is associated with a reduced risk of ovarian cancer: a dose-response meta-analysis.

Following a high-fiber diet may brighten a woman's chances of avoiding ovarian cancer.

This study was carried out to determine whether increased consumption of high-fiber foods can reduce the risk of developing ovarian cancer. Researchers analyzed data obtained from more than 500,000 women who participated in 19 different studies.

Researchers observed that the risk of ovarian cancer decreased in dose-dependent manner as dietary intake of fiber-rich foods increased. The consumption of additional 5 grams of dietary fiber per day was found to cut down ovarian cancer risk by 3% in this study. The findings of this study show that generous intake of dietary fiber may be an important part of a dietary approach for the prevention of ovarian cancer.
