A significant elevation in pancreatic cancer risk is associated with high consumption of cholesterol-rich foods.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between dietary intake of cholesterol-rich foods and the risk of developing pancreatic cancer by meta-analysis. A total of 16 scientific publications that examined more than 4,000 cases of pancreatic cancer were included in this meta-analysis.

Researchers observed high occurrence rates of pancreatic cancer among consistent consumers of foods high in cholesterol. Pancreatic cancer risk was found to increase by 8% for every 100mg of cholesterol consumed per day. The authors of this study concluded that regular intake of diets high in cholesterol-containing foods may be a contributing factor to the development of pancreatic cancer.
