Dietary intake of fiber in relation to knee pain trajectories.

High dietary ingestion of fiber-rich foods may help cut down the risk of developing moderate or severe knee pain in individuals with or at risk of osteoarthritis.

​This study examined effect of regular consumption of dietary fiber on knee pain in individuals with or at risk of osteoarthritis. Researchers tracked the dietary fiber intake of 4,470 subjects with or at risk of developing knee osteoarthritis and identified the knee pain patterns in each participant in this study. They discovered that subjects who regularly consumed fiber-rich foods were less likely to suffer from moderate and severe knee pain. The findings of this study reveal that generous intake of high-fiber diets may reduce the odds of an individual with or who is likely to develop osteoarthritis from suffering from moderate and severe knee pain.
