Dietary fiber intake and head and neck cancer risk: A pooled analysis in the International Head and Neck Cancer Epidemiology consortium.

Greater consumption of fiber-containing foods seems to be protective against oral, laryngeal, and pharyngeal cancer.

​The purpose of this study was to review data from previously published studies that evaluated the connection between high fiber diets and of odds of developing cancer in the head and neck region.A total 10 studies were considered for this meta-analysis. 

Researchers noticed that the likelihood of developing cancer of the pharynx, larynx, and mouth decreased with increasing intake of fiber-rich foods. This study suggests that regular ingestion of foods packed with fiber may contribute positively to the prevention of oral, pharyngeal, and laryngeal cancer.
