Association of Pro-inflammatory Dietary Intake and Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease: Findings from Iranian case-control study

The odds of suffering from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) are stacked against individuals who enjoy consuming pro-inflammatory foods.

This study determined if choosing a pro-inflammatory diet is tied to increased chances of developing non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Researchers compared the inflammatory properties of the diets of 295 patients diagnosed with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and 704 men and women without a history of the disease.

Researchers observed that a large number of the participants suffering from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease followed a pro-inflammatory diet. This study demonstrated that high consumers of pro-inflammatory foods are prone to developing non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
